Tonnetz
MIDI harmony conductor · Sinfonion-style brain

Tonnetz

A harmonic conductor for your whole rig. Set a key and scale, then play chords from an interactive Neo-Riemannian lattice while three quantizers, a voiced chord generator, an arpeggiator, bass and drone all stay locked to the same harmony — and drive any synth or hardware over MIDI. No sound of its own; it conducts the instruments you already own.

What it does

THE LATTICE

Play harmony in space

An interactive Neo-Riemannian Tonnetz lattice at the centre of the plugin — click a triad and the whole rig follows, with the notes lighting up as they play. The harmonic map no other plugin puts front and centre.

MASTER HARMONY

One key, everything obeys

A live, modulatable key and scale with degree → chord stacking (root / 3 / 5 / 7 / 9 / 11 / 13). Change the degree and every part re-voices, in tune, instantly.

QUANTIZERS

Never a wrong note

Three independent channels snap incoming MIDI to the master key — Scale, Triad, 7th, 9th or Full — each on its own input/output MIDI channel and octave. Play freely; it stays in key.

CHORD + PARTS

A whole band, in key

A voiced chord generator with voice-leading, spread and inversions, plus an arpeggiator, bass and drone — each routable to its own synth on its own channel, with swing and humanize for feel.

SONG MODE

Write the progression

A 16-step progression sequencer drives the degree from the clock — host transport or internal — so your changes land exactly on the beat or bar. Twelve factory presets to start, save your own.

PERFORM

Built to play live

Chord-by-MIDI, global transpose, quantized chord changes, MIDI-Learn on every control, and drag-to-DAW MIDI export of the whole arrangement. A performance instrument, not just a utility.

The conductor for your studio

Tonnetz is the harmonic brain of the SHLabs rig — pure MIDI, no sound of its own, pointed at whatever synths and hardware you already love. In the spirit of the ACL Sinfonion and the Conductive Labs NDLR, rebuilt as a plugin with the Tonnetz lattice at its heart, so a single key change moves your whole arrangement in tune.

It pairs naturally with Metro 185 for rhythm and the rest of the catalog. Runs as a MIDI-effect plugin (VST3 / AU) or standalone with a virtual MIDI port.
